The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has clarified the recent arrest of controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, following a period of public speculation.
In a statement released by the NIS, the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) Kenneth Udo, confirmed that Bobrisky was arrested on Monday while attempting to flee the country through the Seme Border.
According to Udo, Bobrisky’s arrest is connected to ongoing investigations into his legal matters, and the cross-dresser has been classified as a “person of interest.”
Udo added that the NIS had been closely monitoring Bobrisky’s activities for some time due to concerns linked to public interest cases.
The SPRO further stated that Okuneye is currently undergoing questioning and will be transferred to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.

“In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service NIS intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to Exit the Country.
“The Service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern. He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action.
“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country’s Borders”.
