Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, recently shared a nostalgic recollection about her early admiration for American rapper Lil Wayne.
During her appearance on ‘The Cruz Show‘ on Real 92.3 FM, the Grammy-winning artist revealed that she often mimicked Wayne in her younger years.
Tems described her passion for hip-hop, stating:
“Hip-hop is my thing. I used to pretend to be a rapper. I love Lil Wayne as well. I used to pretend to be Lil Wayne when I was younger”.
Tems also expressed her eagerness to eventually meet the rapper. “I’ve not met Wayne. I want to meet him so bad. Very soon I know I’m going to meet him,” she remarked.
In another story, Tems gushes over Justin Bieber.
She appeared on the Jennifer Hudson Show, where she spoke about her experience with Canadian singer Justin Bieber.
Tems described Bieber as “one of the purest souls” she has met, highlighting his kind and supportive nature.
Tems recounted how she invited Wizkid and Justin Bieber to join her Coachella set earlier this year.
She explained that Wizkid was in town and agreed to perform with her, while Bieber reached out via text, offering to join the performance.
Pleasantly surprised by Justin Bieber’s gesture, Tems praised his humility and willingness to support her.
She expressed her gratitude and admiration for Justin, calling him a kind and supportive individual.
She said:
“I was meant to do this Coachella performance and Wizkid was in town so we asked if he minded coming on and he was like, yeah, of course, I’m going to come out.
“And then on the day of the performance, I got a text from Justin Bieber, he was like, ‘I’m around in case you want to bring me out.’
“Justin Bieber is one of the purest souls I have ever met, he’s so kind and such a supporter. And he came out, the ground ground was shaking. Everybody was loosing their minds. I was a bit startled. Justin, I love you!”
