I didn’t sleep my way to the top – Cardi B

Cardi B Addresses Stereotypes Faced by Successful Women

American rapper Cardi B has shared her thoughts on the persistent negative stereotypes that many successful women encounter.

She highlighted the reality that women often put in considerable effort and perform at high levels, yet their successes are frequently attributed to superficial qualities or suggestions that they have leveraged their physical appearances to advance their careers.

In a post on her X account over the weekend, Cardi B voiced her discontent regarding the criticism directed at U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, a candidate for the Democratic Party, arguing that much of the backlash she receives is rooted in her gender.

The rapper drew parallels between her own experiences and those of Harris, emphasizing that both have been underestimated throughout their journeys.

She wrote;

Just like Kamala Harris, I have been the underdog and I have been underestimated!! My success always discredited.

“Let me tell you something, women have to work ten times harder and perform ten times better and still our success comes with excuses… its because she’s pretty or because she slept her way to the top. I see the disgusting attacks against Kamala and it’s not only angered me but has motivated me more now than ever to not just say something, but to do something!… I can’t stand a bully!”

The rapper’s comments came shortly after she addressed a rally for Kamala Harris in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she officially endorsed the Democratic candidate in the lead-up to the upcoming presidential election.

Cardi B’s ex-husband Offset, had earlier accused her of cheating while pregnant with their child.

During a recent Instagram live session, Cardi B accused Offset of threatening court wars and struggling to accept her moving on.

She expressed her frustration, stating that she’s prepared to fight back if necessary.

Offset joined the live session, alleging that Cardi B had been unfaithful during her pregnancy with their third child.

He wrote, “You f*cked with a baby inside. Tell the truth!”
