Popular Nollywood director and editor Dimeji Ajibola, known for his work on the acclaimed movie Shanty Town, has passed away.
He reportedly died in the early hours of November 3, 2024, following a battle with an undisclosed illness.
The news of Ajibola’s death was confirmed by actor Bolanle Ninalowo, who took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute.
Accompanying a photo of the late director, Ninalowo expressed his sorrow. He wrote:
“I love you, brother, and I miss you, Dimeji Ajibola. May God heal your family and loved ones. Till we meet again, didi dox, rest on the champ.”
Dimeji Ajibola was celebrated for his impactful contributions to the Nollywood film industry, particularly for directing the 2023 crime thriller series Shanty Town.
He also garnered acclaim for his earlier work on Hoodrush, a 2012 urban musical film that received multiple awards and recognition.

Ini Edo and Minini Empire Productions Limited, MEP, had in January 2024, filed a double intellectual property petition against Chinenye Nworah and her production company ‘Giant Creative Media Limited’, GCM over trademark rights of the popular Netflix series, Shanty Town.
In the petition, the movie actress sought to claim ownership of the trademarks and copyrights linked with ‘Shanty Town.
