“Are you not Yoruba?” – Skepta heavily dragged online for praising Tiwa Savage in Igbo, he reacts

Skepta calls out for using Igbo as he praises Tiwa Savage

Nigerian-British rapper Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jnr, popularly known as Skepta, has faced criticism on social media after expressing admiration for his fellow artist, Tiwa Savage, in Igbo language.

The award-winning musician shared a stunning photo of Tiwa Savage and captioned it with the exclamation “Chineke,” which translates to “God” in Igbo.

While many fans appreciated Skepta’s gesture, one netizen, identified as Nonso, took issue with his use of Igbo.

In a tweet directed at the rapper, Nonso wrote: “Oga, you are Yoruba! Stop using Igbo words; we don’t recognize you.

This comment quickly generated waves of attention on X, prompting Skepta to respond. He expressed confusion about Nonso’s statement.

Skepta wrote:

“Who is ‘we’?”
