- Actress Jemima Osunde has slammed a netizen who complained about filmmakers using the same set of actors in movies.
- Influencer Enioluwa in his reaction explained in details as to why it’s inevitable for Nollywood not to use the same set of actors.
Nigerian movie actress cum physiotherapist, Jemima Osunde and actor cum social media influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa have responded to a netizen for airing their personal opinion about Nollywood actors online.
The netizen on their microblogging platform, X page bemoaned how they are tired of seeing the same faces of Nollywood actors in the Nigerian film industry. The X user wrote:
“I’m sincerely tired of seeing the same faces in this damn industry.”
Responding, Jemima Osunde who seemed irritated clapped back at the netizen over the insensitive remark. The actress retorted:
“We’re tired of seeing your face too in your office.
Damn! I hope they sack you.”
Enioluwa in his response was more calmly as he explained in details why filmmakers keep using the same set of people in movies.
The actor said situations like that are unavoidable because the industry doesn’t pay actors enough to star in one movie per year.
He added that the industry can’t accommodate new talents either because the job isn’t a well-paying job.
Comparing Nollywood to Hollywood, Enioluwa asserted that no one wants to be famous and poor. The influencer wrote:
“People often say they’re tired of seeing the same faces in Nigerian films.
However, unlike in Hollywood, actors in Nigeria can’t afford to do just one film a year— how much are they paying.
The industry currently can’t support as many newcomers as people might expect because, realistically, many of them wouldn’t be able to meet even their basic needs. No one wants to be famous and financially unstable.”
