- Musician Iyanya recently rebuked X user over his claims about Davido’s treatment of Tekno.
- The user alleged that Davido ignored Tekno’s collaboration request despite Tekno’s past assistance to his music career.
- In reaction to the tweet, Iyanya cautioned the netizen, as he told him to post only things he is sure of.
Nigerian singer, Iyanya recently cautioned an X (formerly Twitter) user, @obaoriade against sharing unverified information after he made allegations concerning singer Davido’s treatment of Tekno.
In his post, @obaoriade claimed that Davido once acknowledged receiving a hit song from Tekno, which helped him during a challenging time in his career. However, the X user added that when Tekno, who had been dealing with his own struggles including throat surgery, expressed interest in contributing to Davido’s new album, Davido ignored the request.
The tweet stirred up conversations among fans, many of whom echoed sentiments about loyalty and reciprocity within the Nigerian music industry. The user concluded with a wish that Tekno would regain his voice, implying he had not received the support he deserved.
The tweet read:
“One artist told the world in an interview he didn’t have a hit for a while and Tekno came through for him, gave him a full recorded song and assured him it’s a hit. Years later after going through a lot himself including throat surgery, Tekno openly reached out to the same artist tweeting at him that he’ll like to be part of his then “forthcoming album” not only was he ignored he didn’t even come any close to the album. One would think one good turn deserves another… but not in the Nigerian music industry. I pray Tekno find his voice again.”
