Chioma Akpotha berates Netflix for premature trailer release of Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors
  • Chioma Akpotha among others has berated Netflix for releasing the trailer of a movie by actor, Femi Adebayo.
  • The streaming app had taken to its Instagram page to release the trailer of Adebayo’s latest movie, supposedly without his consent.

Actress Chioma Akpotha has slammed streaming platform Netflix for releasing the official trailer of Femi Adebayo’s upcoming film Seven Doors before the producer had a chance to do so.

Netflix shared the trailer on their official Instagram page on Friday ahead of Femi Adebayo’s planned schedule.

The post was captioned, “All hail the king. SEVEN DOORS will open 13 Dec. Only on NETFLIX.”

The premature release drew criticism in the comments section with many questioning the streaming app’s decision.

Among the critics was Chioma Akpotha who expressed her frustration, “@naijaonnetflix Guys, like WTH! Do you not know what timing is? 😡 @femiadebayosalami had set the ball rolling by dropping teasers! People were already anticipating, only for it to be messed up by the full trailer release here… JUST LIKE THAT?! Do you not know what being strategic is? Kai.”

Other reactions followed with Ganiyu Kolawole commenting, “Netflix didn’t even chill for Femi to open the fifth door on his page.”

Adebayom Jimoh added, “At least una for align with the producer’s promotion tactics na.”

For some time Femi Adebayo has been building anticipation for Seven Doors by sharing teasers, keeping fans eager for the film’s release.

The Jagun Jagun producer has successfully captured the audience’s interest, leading to heightened expectations.

In an August interview with Independence, Femi revealed that he was working on a new project “better than Jagun Jagun.”

He shared details about the film saying,

“The next movie that I said is bigger than Jagun Jagun is titled Seven Doors and it’s set in two eras, the 18th century and the 19th century, which means we have the old-school setting where we have those 504s, the Volkswagens of then and it also takes us back to that kind of Jagun Jagun setting. It’s mixed and it features multiple tribes. It is about a Yoruba king married to an Igbo woman, with a Hausa man coming to invest. It plays around Nigerian culture.”

The cast of Seven Doors includes Femi Adebayo, Chioma Akpotha, Wumi Toriola,Yinka Quadri, Oshodi Oke, Dayo Amusa, Adebayo Salami and Gabriel Afolayan, among others.

Seven Doors will be released on Netflix on December 13.
