Chiwetalu Agu, moved to tears, over video of Akwa Ibom residents drinking oil-contaminated water to survive
  • Chiwetalu Agu was completely shaken and moved to the core after watching a gut-wrenching video from an impoverished community in Akwa Ibom.
  • The footage revealed how residents are forced to rely on water from an oil-contaminated well, a source that has become their only means of survival, but at a devastating cost.
  • Agu made a passionate call to the government and every compassionate Nigerian, urged them to step in and provide urgent relief.

Nollywood veteran, Chiwetalu Agu, has voiced his deep anguish and concern over a heart-wrenching video highlighting the dire plight of a community in Akwa Ibom that is desperately in need of basic survival resources.

The heartbreaking footage was shared by none other than the famous skitmaker, Mark Angel, during his recent humanitarian trip to Okoritak village in Ibeno Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. What he uncovered left many in utter disbelief.

The residents, trapped in this unimaginable nightmare, revealed to Mark Angel that they have no choice but to drink from an oil-contaminated well — the only source of water available to them.

This toxic water, according to them, has wreaked havoc on their health, causing all kinds of debilitating diseases that have plagued them for years. This gruesome reality is compounded by the absence of even the most basic infrastructure, including a proper school for their children.

In response to this chilling discovery, Chiwetalu Agu took to social media, his heart heavy with sorrow and frustration, to express his profound dismay and anger over the situation.

He said he was moved to tears watching the video, as the true depth of the suffering in Okoritak village unfolded before his eyes.

The revered actor didn’t mince words as he slammed the Nigerian government for its abysmal failure to provide even the most basic amenities, which these people are entitled to by right.

Chiwetalu reached out to the government, urged them to look beyond their corrupt practices and start taking responsibility for the people they are meant to serve.

He also turned to the compassionate Nigerians, called on every well-meaning individual to rally together and lend their support to the community.
