In a recent tweet shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Edo state-born reality star revealed that she has discovered she has no known family ties, leading her to take the drastic step of publicly distancing herself from the surname “Otabor.”
Her tweet, which has since gone viral, read in part:
“I am publicly dropping my family surname OTABOR. It has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about. It’s been rough with me lately. I’m in a place where I can’t even describe how I feel.”
Phyna went on to explain that the pain of mistreatment by close relatives, which she had once been oblivious to during her childhood, had weighed heavily on her.
“Growing up and the way I was tossed around by relatives, I should have suspected but I guess I was too young,” she added.
Phyna’s announcement comes nearly two years after a public controversy in 2023, where she faced allegations of abandonment by her family following her BBNaija victory.
