I am Aremu’s father, not brother – Kunle Afolayan breaks silence following reconciliation [VIDEO]
  • Kunle Afolayan has aired his opinion after he and his younger brother Aremu Afolayan reconciled at their late mother’s wake in Komu, Oyo state.
  • Prior to this, there were rumours that the two brother were at loggerheads and keeping malice for reasons not made public, although Aremu once shaded Kunle and his other siblings while recounting his bitter childhood experience.
  • Away from the drama, the two brothers have let bygones be bygones.

Nigerian filmmaker cum actor Kunle Afolayan has finally broken his silence following his reconciliation with his younger brother, Aremu Afolayan.

There have been speculations for years that the brothers were at loggerheads but fortunately reunited following the death of their mother.

A video on Instagram captured the siblings sitting closely together at Kunle Afolayan’s film village in Komu, Oyo State, chatting with friends who were present for their mother’s burial rites.

At their mother’s wake, Aremu Afolayan apologized to his elder brother in a very emotional moment that left him in uncontrollable tears. Aremu, visibly broken, apologized to Kunle for past grievances, including a highly publicized Instagram rant where he had aired their dirty laundry.

After the wake on Friday night, Kunle Afolayan shared his thoughts following their reconciliation.

In a light-hearted video, the versatile filmmaker asserted that he isn’t just Aremu Afolayan’s brother but also his father.

Kunle Afolayan revealed that he is ten years older than Aremu and he fostered him. He jokingly blamed Aremu’s female friends for indulging him and tearing them apart. Kunle Afolayan said in Yoruba:

“I am not his brother, I am his father, I was the one that fostered him. I am 10 years older than him, I am his father. You, his female friends are the ones trying to tear us apart.”
