Davido should be more guarded in his utterances – OAP Nymat fumes over ‘economy in shambles’ statement

Economy in shambles: OAP Nymat reacts to Davido’s statement

TVC presenter Akashat Nymat has lashed out at music star Davido for urging African Americans not to relocate to Africa.

Recall that Davido, in a recent interview, had issued a stern warning to Black Americans against relocating to Africa.

According to him, the economy of Africa is in shambles.

Davido, however, made it known that he wasn’t badmouthing Africa; rather, he aimed to show off the good parts and leave the slums out of the frame.

Reacting in the latest edition of Your View on TVC on Monday, November 25, Nymat claimed that Davido has done nothing for the masses.

She berated the Awuke singer for talking down on his country in the presence of a foreigner when if the situation was turned, that wouldn’t have happened.

Urging him to guard his utterances because he’s a celebrity, the media personality admonished that “no matter how true your truth is, if it’s not going to be of service to your people”, it’s best to keep mute.

Nymat said;

“As he done a service to the average Nigerians inside Ede? That doesn’t know the royal family of Ede? Has he done a service to Nigerians? Who is in the bush trying to get food? No! He hasn’t.

We know that this country is hard and that the reforms were forced on us because if we had continued to feed the elite, it would be worse off.

We’re suffering under that weight, and what you can say is, “It’s hard here”.

During the elections in America, an opera would sing at the election, but she wouldn’t sit on a show or sit at a table and tell a foreign interviewer what Davido did. That’s wrong. Because you say there, now your reference point for whether they should go ahead and invest in the country.

See the point is, no matter how true your truth is, if it’s not going to be of service to your people. It is in the corridors where he could give that one privately, but he chose to tell Americans they can’t come here, whereas what we need is foreign investors. That’s what government has said we need.

Except Davido can show me two or three companies where he produces beans, rice, and local foods for the local man, he can’t be talking anyhow. I don’t see any service he has done.

Davido is a person of influence and should be more guarded in his utterances, especially about the country that has given him that fame”.
