The streaming giant unveiled this on Wednesday during its annual end-of-year recap, ‘Wrapped,’ which highlights global listeners’ music preferences.
Asake’s dominance extended beyond individual streams, as his albums Work of Art, Lungu Boy, and Mr. Money With The Vibe secured top spots among the most-streamed Nigerian albums of the year.
Interestingly, Young Jonn’s Jiggy Forever took the crown for the most-streamed album of 2024, showcasing the diversity in listeners’ choices.
Meanwhile, Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy continues to make waves internationally.
He was named Nigeria’s most-exported artist and the only Nigerian to break into the UK’s top 100 artists for 2024.
In other news, South African music sensation Tyla has made history, surpassing global superstar Beyoncé to claim the title of the most streamed album by a Black female artist released in 2024.
Tyla’s self-titled debut album amassed an impressive 1.565 billion streams on Spotify, overtaking Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, which garnered 1.564 billion streams.
