Defamation: May Edochie threatens legal action against comedian Baba De Baba, he responds

May Yul Edochie issues cease and desist order against comedian Baba De Baba

Nigerian actress and influencer, May Edochie has threatened to take legal action against comedian Chidi Uzoma, known as Baba De Baba, for defamatory statements made against her on Facebook.

Through her lawyer, the actress issued a pre-action notice on Friday, December 13, titled “CEASE AND DESIST – DEFAMATION”.

It was stated that Baba De Baba accused Edochie has a preference for women rather than men in private, alleging that she recently went to Ghana with her female friends to seek out men to engage in sexual intercourse.
The letter also mentioned that Baba De Baba accused Edochie of being HIV positive.

May Edochie in response asked the comedian to immediately remove all negative posts about her.

The pre-action notice demands that Baba De Baba remove all defamatory statements from all social media platforms, tender an accurate public apology and retraction of the allegations and publish the apology prominently with prior approval.
He was given until midnight on Sunday, December 15, 2024, to comply.

The letter warned that failure to meet these demands would result in a civil action for damages without further notice.

In response, Baba De Baba posted on Facebook that while he is willing to apologise, he will not delete all the content.

He claimed May’s fans, known as May Nation, had been targeting Yul Edochie and Judy Austin in similar ways.

He added that someone else manages his Facebook page, making the removal process lengthy.
