- Olaiya Igwe bared his soul in a heart-wrenching reflection, unraveling the stormy saga of his fractured relationships with K1 De Ultimate and Sefiu Alao.
- Through his words, it became evident how the actions of these respected figures cut through his trust, left him wounded and questioning the loyalty of those he once held in high regard.
Ebun Oloyede, the legendary Nollywood actor affectionately called Olaiya Igwe, has unburdened his soul in a recent interview with Feelrightnewstv, detailing years of betrayal and disrespect at the hands of Fuji music titans King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM 1) and Alhaji (Dr.) Sefiu Alao Adekunle.
His voice carried the weight of unresolved pain as he revealed how two men he once called brothers pierced his heart with actions he still struggles to reconcile.
Opening up about his fractured relationship with KWAM 1, Olaiya Igwe recounted the pain of being shut out by someone he had shared countless fond memories with. He lamented how the celebrated Fuji maestro suddenly stopped relating with him, despite their years of friendship.
According to Olaiya, apart from veteran actor Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), who shares a close relationship with KWAM 1, he believes he stood next in line as one of the Fuji icon’s dearest companions in Nollywood. He said KWAM 1 treated him like a stranger while showering generosity and blessings on his other colleagues, some of whom he claimed barely share a connection with the legendary musician.
Olaiya Igwe delved into how time and distance also slowly eroded the bond he once shared with KWAM 1. He reflected on how the Fuji maestro’s relocation created a growing chasm between them, reduced their once-constant camaraderie to brief, surface-level greetings at public events.
At one such gathering, Olaiya recounted how his dear friend, MC Oluomo, the NURTW president, took it upon himself to broker peace between them, but instead of reconciliation, Olaiya said he was blindsided by KWAM 1’s accusation of jealousy over his generosity to others.
Turning to his fallout with Sefiu Alao, Olaiya revisited a painful memory from the late 1980s, a period when their relationship took an irreversible turn. He revealed how, in good faith, he had invited Sefiu to feature in one of his stage plays.
After the performance, Olaiya averred that Sefiu approached him, expecting a hefty share of the proceeds—perhaps one comparable to the financial rewards of his Fuji music shows. But Olaiya, constrained by the realities of theater earnings, said hevhanded over what he could afford, only to witness a display that stung him to his core.
In an act that Olaiya perceived as insulting, Sefiu shared the money among his band members right in front of him, a move the actor interpreted as a public display of disdain and anger over the perceived small amount.
