- Gbemi OO shares her thoughts on Deborah Enenche’s name after marriage, while wondering if only those with less money are expected to follow their husbands’ names.
- She asked if a woman in the same situation would be criticized for being “disobedient” or “not obedient to her husband.”
Media personality Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi, also known as Gbemi OO, has questioned why the daughters of prominent Nigerian pastors, David Oyedepo and Paul Enenche, have retained their fathers’ names after getting married.
In a thought-provoking post, Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi expressed her curiosity about the societal expectations surrounding name changes after marriage.
She noted that Love Oyedepo and Deborah Enenche have both added their husbands’ names, Ogah and Hawthorn, respectively, to their own names.
She wondered if a woman who chooses to retain her father’s name after marriage would be viewed as “disobedient” or “not submissive” to her husband.
She posted:
“I wan find small trouble Love Oyedepo became – Love Oyedepo Ogah (added her husband’s name) Deborah Eneche became – Deborah Eneche Hawthorn (added her husband’s name). But if another pesin do am, e go turn ‘she’s not s*bmissive’. Abii na only poor people suppose dey s*bmissive’?
In another news, Gbemi OO reveals how she will deal with a cheating partner .
The media personality, who welcomed her first child in 2021, was a guest on Diary of Naija Girl podcast with Ifedayo Agoro. The host had asked her if cheating was a dealbreaker for her. While responding, Gbemi O noted that it all depends on the situation.
According to the media personality, cheating isn’t exactly a dealbreaker for her because she believes in revenge and if a lady will revenge, it should be done with someone close to the man who cheated. Possibly the man’s mentor, role model or someone whom such a man looked up to
The OAP was also asked if she can engage in a long distance relationship. She explained that she cannot. Gbemi O mentioned that she must see her lover at least once to three times a week.
