In December 2014, Adekunle Gold announced himself on the Nigerian music scene with the hit single ‘Sade’.
The song, a cover of British boy band One Direction‘s smash hit ‘Story Of My Life,’ became a viral hit that brought Adekunle Gold mainstream attention and paved the way for his success.
In a recent interview reflecting on his 10 years in the industry, Adekunle Gold shared the role singer-songwriter, and producer Pheelz played in getting him signed to YBNL by Olamide.
Before getting signed to the label, the singer shared that he had a relationship with Olamide as he worked as a graphics designer for the label and was responsible for some of the cover art of the releases of its artists including Lil Kesh and Viktor.
On how he got signed to the label, AG baby as he is fondly called shared that Pheelz heard ‘Sade’ and spoke to Olamide to consider signing him, and the rest, as they say, is history.
