Nigerian justice crusader and humanitarian, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has come forward with a major update on the ongoing saga of his stolen NGO funds—a heartbreaking ordeal that has left him and his supporters reeling.
Recall, in a shocking revelation made on Friday, VDM disclosed that over ₦180 million was siphoned from his NGO’s account in a calculated hacking incident. Of this massive amount, ₦160 million was diverted into an unknown account, while ₦20 million was partly recovered through swift action, including a Post No Debit (PND) directive placed on one of the compromised accounts.
Providing an update on Sunday, December 29, VDM revealed that ₦78 million has so far been recovered after relentless efforts by his team. However, the remaining ₦102 million has been traced to Ghana, where investigations are in full swing to identify and apprehend those responsible for orchestrating this audacious crime.
VDM also shared the findings of a cybersecurity investigation conducted on his NGO’s website. The report revealed that hackers from multiple countries—including the United States, Nigeria, Kenya, and others—had made numerous attempts to compromise the funds.
In a candid and emotional moment, the humanitarian hinted at the possibility of an insider being involved in the heist. Visibly devastated, he lamented the sleepless nights and emotional toll the ordeal has taken on him.
Verydarkman expressed his gratitude to those who have shown him genuine support and concern.
