Veteran Nigerian rapper Sasha P has expressed concerns about the cultural emphasis on wealth in Nigeria.
In a recent post, she lamented that people’s value is often determined by their financial status, with wealthy individuals being treated with undue reverence.
Sasha P argued that a person’s character is not defined by their wealth, but rather amplified by it.
She emphasized that wealth does not guarantee wisdom, emotional intelligence, or accountability.
The rapper also criticized the tendency to respond to disagreements or criticisms by questioning someone’s net worth.
She advocated for a shift in values, encouraging people to tie their self-worth to their character rather than their possessions.
On her X handle, Sasha P wrote:
“I think we lost the plot when people began to determine your value by how much money you have. People worship money in Nigeria, and any apparent show of wealth, you get treated like some deity when, in actual fact, you can have so much money and still be far from wisdom!
“Money doesn’t automatically make you cool or good company to keep. It doesn’t excuse you from accountability or bestow you with emotional intelligence. It is an amplifier….your character will still be your destiny!
“So unbecoming when the first retort to an affront is “how much do you even have?’ Your self-worth should not be tied to your possessions.”
In another news, MC Galaxy allegedly arrests Uche Maduagwu for questioning his source of wealth.
The controversy began when MC Galaxy allegedly spent $60,000 on a music video release.
Uche Maduagwu openly questioned the origin of the funds, casting doubt on the singer’s financial activities. Maduagwu specifically called on MC Galaxy to disclose his genuine source of income, insinuating that the artist is involved in more than just music.
In response to this public call-out, a video has surfaced on the internet depicting Uche Maduagwu in handcuffs, being arrested and forced into a vehicle.
