- Veteran nollywood actress Ego Boyo has backed her colleague, Ngozi Ezeonu, who reprimanded some aspiring actresses for showing up to her audition site without bras.
- The ladies in question wore crop tops and leggings, without underwear.
- Ego Boyo stated that dressing appropriately is key, as an audition is a job interview.
Nigerian movie actress cum producer Ego Boyo, has schooled aspiring actors on what is expected of them when showing up for an audition.
The veteran actress’s opinion comes after a viral video saw her colleague, Ngozi Ezeonu scolding two up-and-coming actresses for showing up to a movie audition without wearing bras.
In the video which gained traction on Wednesday, January 15, Ngozi, a judge at the audition, reprimanded the ladies for wearing crop tops without undergarments, deeming their attire inappropriate.
She warned that anyone appearing before her in such clothing would be disqualified automatically.
The video sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting Ngozi’s stance, while others argued she had no right to dictate how individuals should dress.
Weighing in on the heated debate on Thursday, Ego Boyo took to X to buttress the point made by Ngozi, emphasising the need for appropriate dress codes at auditions and likening them to job interviews.
Ego Boyo wrote:
“An audition is a job interview! Dress appropriately. Show up how you want to be addressed.
“What utter tosh from all these incredibly stupid hot takes
Utter rubbish.
As a colleague said “Because we provide entertainment, does not mean our work is a joke.”
Her statement has been met with applause from some quarters, though others maintain that the women’s attire should not have warranted public criticism.
In other news, one of Nigeria’s most prominent vocalists, Omawumi Megbele and her husband are celebrating their 10th year wedding anniversary.
The songstress shared an adorable video collage that featured their growth through the years
Omawumi also accompanied the post with a sweet caption, showering accolades on her man.
