The parents of Nigerian gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi have finally spoken out on the horrible controversy that has engulfed their son.
Timileyin was recently apprehended and accused of murdering his girlfriend, Salome Adaidu, with a video showing him allegedly holding her severed head. A search of his apartment revealed the gruesome discovery of Salome’s body, cut into pieces with sharp objects.
In a recent interview, Timileyin’s father, Sunday Ajayi, pleaded for his son’s release, asking the government to intervene and settle the matter.
Speaking in Pidgin, he begged for mercy:
“I want government make dem help me make the matter settle abeg. Make dem help me try to beg the people make una leave am.”
However, his mother, Dorcas Ajayi, took a different stance. She seemed resigned to her fate, acknowledging that if the same fate had befallen one of her own children, she would be devastated.
She left the decision to the government, stating “Had it been it’s one of my daughters they did that to, how do I feel? So I don’t know. Anything government want to do, everything is in their hands.”
