- Following 2Baba and Annie Idibia’s split, Nasboi also shared the reason behind his decision.
Singer and content creator Nasboi has said he will keep his marriage private when he is eventually ready to settle down.
According to him, he will not make his marriage public to avoid strangers sharing their opinions about it online.
The skit maker made this statement amidst the heavy reactions trailing 2Baba’s recent announcement that he and his wife, Annie, are heading for divorce.
On his X handle, Nasboi wrote:
“I’ll hide my marriage when I’m ready. Nothing online, please, please! I don’t want some random child having opinions about my life.”
In another post, he urged Nigerians to stop using celebrity marriages as a standard for defining marriage. He wrote:
“One celebrity divorce, and you start saying this thing called marriage isn’t for you. But you forget about your parents, who’ve been married for over 30-something years. Stop using celebrity marriages to define marriage. If you don’t want to marry, that’s your business.”
Recall the African Queen hitmaker announced the end of his 13-year marriage to Annie on Instagram. The post read:
“Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long…I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now, and currently filed for divorce.
“I would grant a press release soon to say my story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed my people. I love you all.”
Shortly after, it was deleted and another post appeared on the same account, claiming that the page had been compromised. It read:
“My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being carried out to take back control. #onelove!”
However, in a surprising turn of events, 2Baba later released a video clarifying the situation.
In the veteran singer’s latest reveal, shared on his Instagram story on Sunday night January 26, he confirmed that a controversial post on his social media page regarding his separation from his wife, Annie Idibia, was indeed made by him.
He disclosed that his account had not been hacked, contrary to the previous statement, and implied that the initial post about his separation was authentic.
