Family, Friends bid farewell to Mount Zion actor ‘Baba Gbenro’ at his funeral in Ogbomosho (VIDEO)

The funeral was the closing of his eyes, but his light continues to shine brightly in the work he left behind and in the hearts of everyone who was moved by his truth.


Nigerian gospel actor, Moses Korede Are, widely known as Baba Gbenro from the iconic Mount Zion Abattoir series, has been laid to rest in an emotionally charged ceremony in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

The death of Baba Gbenro, founder and International President of the Calvary Movies Drama Ministry, a beloved institution based in Ogbomosho, Nigeria, sent shockwaves through the entertainment and gospel community after his passing in November 2024.

The atmosphere at the burial was thick with sorrow and reverence as friends, colleagues, and fans gathered to say their final goodbyes. Clad in shades of white and blue, mourners filled the air with heartfelt prayers and memories, paid tribute to the man who had touched countless lives through his faith-filled performances and ministry.

As the photos and videos of the emotional ceremony flooded social media, the depth of the collective grief was undeniable.

In one particularly poignant image, Baba Gbenro’s casket, elegantly adorned with gold trimmings and delicate floral decorations, lay open, allowed mourners a final glimpse of their beloved star.

The soft murmurs of prayers and weeping echoed as the casket was slowly lowered into the ground.

Fondly known as Baba Gbenro, the actor was born on June 11, 1959. He spent his early years in Kano State, later continuing his education in Plateau State and ultimately completing his studies in southwestern Nigeria.
