Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, has reportedly taken a firm stand against accepting a Land Cruiser vehicle and a N10 million monthly allowance offered by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Over the weekend in Idumuje Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Nwoko addressed the issue, as reported by LEADERSHIP.
The businessman-turned-lawmaker dismissed the offer as misaligned with the real needs of his constituents. He stressed that leadership requires channeling resources toward public good, prioritizing impact over personal gain.
Ned Nwoko reaffirmed his commitment to a new standard of politics focused on community progress and genuine service.
“I am dissatisfied with the offer. I won’t accept the offer of a Land Cruiser and N10 million monthly from the governor. The funds should be used for the people rather than for self-interest. My primary goal as a Senator is to improve the lives of my constituents,” Nwoko stated.
This is coming weeks after Ned Nwoko’s dramatic defection from the PDP to the APC, alongside his mother-in-law, Rita Daniels, who made an equally bold exit from the party he once brought her into.
In a scathing revelation, Daniels pointed to deep-seated inconsistencies, internal strife, and what she described as a failing political structure as the reasons behind her swift departure.
Her announcement on Monday, February 3, accompanied by images from her tenure and resignation post, went beyond mere politic, served as a stark warning about the PDP’s weakening foundation.
Appointed as the State Assistant Treasurer of the PDP in Delta State in 2020, Daniels noted that in response to her resignation, the PDP in Aniocha South Ward One suspended her indefinitely, citing alleged anti-party activities.
