Skit maker Carter Efe has publicly addressed the criticism that followed a viral video involving his daughter.
In the widely circulated clip, Carter Efe’s daughter is seen playfully touching his chest, including his nipple, while he makes funny sounds with each touch.
While fans saw a pure and innocently funny video, some saw otherwise, including VeryDarkMan who found the content inappropriate.
VeryDarkMan highlighted the need for stronger child protection laws in Nigeria, arguing that the existing regulations are insufficient and poorly enforced. According to him, incidents like this showcase the urgent necessity for stricter safeguards to protect children.
VeryDarkMan went as far as criticizing Carter Efe’s parenting, suggesting that his behavior raised concerns about his mental and emotional capacity to care for his child. He also voiced frustration over the lack of consequences for parents who engage in questionable actions with their children.
Calling on agencies such as NAPTIP, he urged authorities to intervene and establish stricter policies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Responding to the backlash, Carter Efe took to his Instagram stories to state that the video was a fun one which was misconstrued on Instagram.
The skit maker bashed netizens for accusing him of molesting his child because they have impure thoughts due to watching porn.
Carter Efe then apologized, adding that he won’t post such ever again. He wrote in part:
“They said I’m molesting my own child. Coming from people that do worst behind closed doors!!!
Born pikin make you see how foolish you go dey just to make them happy!
I’m not suprised at all because I’m in a country where 99% watch porn on a daily basis and it’s stuck in their head and they still pretend to saint!
Make una nor vex e nor go happen again
Dont forget I wrote all this because of my daughter Charis.”
