Hot takes as Cynthia Morgan argues “Tinubu not the most terrible Nigerian president”

Cynthia Morgan calls out Tinubu over fuel subsidy

Former Nigerian dancehall singer Cynthia Morgan has criticized President Bola Tinubu over his decision to remove fuel subsidies completely, calling it a “terrible move.”

In a series of posts on her Instagram story, Cynthia Morgan argued that Tinubu is “not the most terrible president Nigeria has ever had” while acknowledging that the situation could still be salvaged.

She contended that if the price of fuel were reduced to ₦500 per liter, the cost of living would ease. According to her, a gradual transition is necessary, supported by proper development and infrastructure. She wrote:

“When you read The Soldiers of Fortune, you will realize Tinubu is not the most terrible president Nigeria has ever had, but nevertheless, removing 100 percent of the subsidy was a terrible move.”

Cynthia Morgan urged the government to reconsider its approach, emphasizing that drastic economic policies should be implemented in phases. She added:

“A baby can’t go from breast milk to yam in just a day. Abeg consider us.”

Her opinion was seen as contradictory by some, who didn’t buy her idea, while some agreed that the subsidy played a huge role in the economic hardship. See screenshot of her post and reactions to it below:
