  • Nigeria’s top dog in politics, the APC, made quite the splash on social media when they addressed the buzz about actress Tonto Dikeh, hopping on board as one of their own.
  • Tonto Dikeh’s official induction into the APC took place at the party’s Abuja headquarters, under the watchful eye of Dr. Mary Alile, the national women leader of the party

The All Progressives Congress (APC) extended its open arms to Tonto Dikeh, a shining star in Nigerian Nollywood, as she strolled into their welcoming fold on a memorable Monday, October 23.

Earlier in the day, news broke that the entertainer had parted ways with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and proudly declared her allegiance to the APC.

Tonto Dikeh was the deputy governorship candidate of the ADC in the March 18 governorship election in Cross Rivers State.

The ruling APC national women leader, Dr Mary Alile, officially unveiled the actress as a party member at about 3pm on Monday. The event took place at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

The actress was the deputy governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State for the 2023 election.

She, however, stepped down from the race 48 hours before the election and declared her support for the APC governorship candidate Tonye Cole who lost to Siminialayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In August 2022, the movie star revealed that she would not be returning to Nollywood after the governorship election in Rivers State.
