We can restore Nigeria’s integrity through movies – Ali Nuhu
  • Ali Nuhu stated that quality in Nigerian movie making can help restore the country’s integrity.
  • The actor noted that only 35 percent of Nigerian movies currently meet the desired quality standard.
  • He highlighted the need to focus on making sure filmmakers are more educated and to also provide quality equipment for movie production.

The director of the Nigerian Film Corporation and actor, Ali Nuhu believes that the movie industry has the potential to restore Nigeria’s integrity.

In his most recent interview with BBC Hausa, the actor stated that just 35 percent of Nigerian movies now adhere to the intended level of quality, although the target should be between 70 and 75 percent.

According to Ali Nuhu, high-caliber Nigerian cinema can contribute to the nation’s integrity being restored.

he believes that the movie industry can present a more authentic and positive portrayal of Nigeria to the rest of the world, ultimately reshaping international perceptions and restoring the country’s integrity.

He said:

“If you look at the films we produce in Nigeria’s film industry, you would see that only 30-35 per cent meet desired quality as against 70-75 per cent.

So I will focus on this by making sure we are more educated and the provisions of quality equipment.

“We have ambition of transforming the industry into one of the world best because we don’t need quantity, what we need most is quality over quantity.

“Some bad eggs among the industry have given Nigeria a bad name, so through these films, we will restore our integrity”.

In another news , popular Nigerian actress Ini Edo reveals reasons why Nigeria’s economy will boom if government takes Nollywood seriously.

She said that despite it being the highest revenue generating industry in the country, some of the major challenges included inadequate public funding and lack of the right structures.

The seasoned actress said this during an interview with the Punch when asked to expatiate on her comment that the film industry is a doorway to Nigeria’s developmental problem.
