Former Miss Nigeria Edna Ibru dies in London after brief illness

  • The news of her demise was made known in a statement issued by her son, Dr. Paul Aidido Ibru, on Saturday.

Mrs. Edna Ibru, a former Miss Nigeria and wife of the ex-governor of Delta State, has passed away in London after a brief illness.

The news of her passing was announced by her son, Dr. Paul Aidido Ibru, in a statement released on Saturday.

According to the statement, Mrs. Ibru passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Dr. Paul Aidido Ibru also paid tribute to her personality, describing her as a kind and caring person who will be deeply missed.

He expressed his sadness at her passing and acknowledged the unexpected nature of her death.

The statement read:

“Our amazing mother passed into glory on Wednesday 15, January 2025 after a brief illness.

“Until her death, she was full of life and we never expected her to leave us so soon, but we cannot question the will of God in her precious life.

“She was a lover of people, a mediator, a mother to many, outrageously humorous, deeply caring, down to earth, full of stories all of the time, and we will miss her very dearly.”

He added that their family will announce her burial arrangements in due course.

Mrs. Ibru was a distinguished public figure, having served as First Lady of Delta State.

She was married to Olorogun Felix Ibru, the state’s inaugural executive Governor. The couple had two children, Paul and Sheri Felix Ibru.

Mrs. Ibru was crowned Miss Nigeria in 1964. She subsequently made history as the first Nigerian and African representative at the Miss Universe pageant.

In others news, Uzor Arukwe opens up on how he lost her ‘straight’ girlfriend to another woman.

According to the A Tribe Called Judah star, he was out with his lady when another woman started making passes at her. He explained that his babe left for the restroom, and this other lady followed her there.

Uzor Arukwe recounted that when his woman returned, she told him of how the other lady tried to kiss her in the restroom, and she assured him that she did not let it happen.
