Why WhiteMoney’s Grammy Awards statement might be a bluff

WhiteMoney wants to win a Grammy

The winner of the just concluded Big Brother Naija, Shine Ya Eye season, WhiteMoney just revealed his intention about his musical career and the path he has decided to take with it.

This was revealed in an interview at Cool FM where the BBNaija star stated that he has been in the music industry even before he went to the Big Brother Naija house. He claims that, unlike other winners who go into music after they win the money, he had been on that path but just didn’t have the platform to showcase his talent.

Recall that a couple of social media users have trolled WhiteMoney recently released music titled Selense, while some jokingly begged him to not put the money he won during the Big Brother Naija show into music.

Answering a question on how he feels about those talking negatively about his new song, WhiteMoney made it clear that his audience is okay with the song. He went further to explain that not all musicians have a soothing voice, while also saying that most of the old musicians don’t have the Falsetto but they have a good message.

Going forward for WhiteMoney

When asked what his plans are and where he sees himself by this time next year, the ex-BBNaija star spoke on his ambition to win a Grammy.

“By this time next year, I’ll get a Grammy.

“A lot of hate comments comes around. A lot of comparisons. They tend to compare with past winners. There is a trend, they say every big brother housemate that comes out wants to go into music. I do not want to go into music, I have been in music.”

Why the Grammy statement might be a bluff

Grammys Award is one of the most prestigious awards globally and many artistes have struggled to get just a nomination nod and haven’t been successful with it so far. The reason for this is not farfetched.

According to the Recording Academy, the body responsible for nominating and voting for musicians to win the award, works are considered based on specific rules.

“Recordings must be commercially released in general distribution in the United States, i.e. sales by label to a branch or recognized independent distributor, via the internet or mail order/retail sales for a nationally marketed product. Recordings must be available for sale from any date within the eligibility period through at least the date of the current year’s voting deadline (final ballot).”

Unless WhiteMoney and his management have put a mechanism in place to attend to the condition stated above, the chances of him winning a Grammys Award next year is zero.
