Grammy: Buhari told to give Wizkid, Burna Boy national awards

Following the Grammy awards won by Wizkid and Burna Boy, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to honour the singers.

A chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Olusegun Bamgbose, made the call after Burna Boy, won the award for the Best Global Music Album ‘Twice as Tall’, and Wizkid claimed the Best Music Video for his song with Beyoncé; Brown Skin Girl, from Lion King: The Gift album.

“It’s a thing of joy that two of our famous musicians were recently honoured with Grammy award,” Bamgbose said.

“This is heartwarming. These musicians are really great and notable Ambassadors of Nigeria. They have certainly done the nation proud at a very crucial time in the history of our nation.

“They deserve accolades from every Nigerian. This is a great challenge to our youths that they can equally excel in whatever they are doing as long as they are committed and hardworking.

“This should encourage them to put their talents at work. Talent is a natural gift from God and it’s not based on your acquiring education.

“Our youths should wake up and look inward, there must be something in them that if properly utilized, can earn them a living.

“One will, however, urge President Buhari to promptly Honour these great Ambassadors of Nigeria with national awards, they deserve it.”
