Officials of the Edo State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly inflicting injuries on his step son whom he accused of theft.
It was gathered that the incident happened at Erediuwa Quarter off Sapele Road in Benin City, Edo state on Saturday, May 16.
According to a neighbour, who spoke to activist and coordinator of human rights group, Talakwa Parliament, the suspect allegedly assaulted the boy and burned his body with a hot knife claiming he stole N20 to buy groundnut and sugar which he used to drink garri.
The man is said to be an indigene of Akwa Ibom state.
