Former Kaduna Central lawmaker Shehu Sani has responded to Kano lawmaker Alhassan Ado-Doguwa’s statement about dealing with those who do not vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election.
On Tuesday, the former lawmaker said on Twitter that Ado-threat, Doguwa’s as Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, is a serious threat to the 2023 elections.
WITHIN NIGERIA previously reported that Doguwa was caught on camera threatening those who refused to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During a campaign rally, the APC lawmaker representing Kano State’s Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency made the declaration.
Speaking to his supporters in Hausa language, the lawmaker said:
On election day, it is either you vote for APC or we deal with you mercilessly.
Reacting to the viral video, Sani told the lawmaker to withdraw the statement.
He wrote:
The threat to deal with anyone who refuses to vote for the ruling APC in Kano is unfortunate and a serious threat to peaceful elections. I advice the ranking Honorable member involved, who is still a lawmaker for over two decades to withdraw this statement.
