Hon. Yakubu Gowon, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Inter-party Advisory Council Cletus Ogah Doma has condemned the Friday attack on Abu Giza, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain.
Giza was stripped naked, molested, and humiliated by youths in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital, according to reports from within Nigeria.
Youths suspected of being APC supporters allegedly descended on the party’s chieftain at the Emir’s Palace in Lafia.
The IPAC Chairman urged youths to remain neutral and not to be used as agents in the hands of politicians.
While describing the molestation of the APC chieftain as a barbaric and unwholesome act, Ogah insisted that Nigerians must stand up to attacks on innocent citizens.
He urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties to condemn any form of thuggery and violence that could disrupt the peaceful conduct of the upcoming general elections.
He said;
The yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians to have a credible, peaceful conduct of elections in 2023, must not be allowed in the hands of the politicians causing troubles in the country.
It is the collective responsibility of all actors and members of of all the political parties to ensure that campaigns are conducted with decorum and in accordance with the rules of the game.
