The journalist who shared the video of South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardit where he peed on himself on live TV has died mysteriously.
The reporter was found to have committed suicide in his residence. According to the note he left on his table, he blames his friend who shared the video with a former photographer who lost his job in a bitter way. The deceased reportedly listed the names of people who deliberately escalated the video and blamed himself for negligence for showing it to a friend.
Some reports also claim that some journalists who covered the state event in South Sudan where president Salva Kiir Mayardit peed in his pants have gone missing one by one.
Salva Kiir Mayardit, 71, has been the president of the troubled northeast African country since its founding in 2011 and has continued to preside over a protracted conflict which has kept the country underdeveloped, with about 82 per cent of its citizens in poverty.
It is not clear whether Mr. Mayardit will seek to extend his 13-year grip on power with clear underlying health issues, but the country will be marching to the polls in 2023 for the first time since its founding.
The elections, which were first scheduled for 2015, have been postponed thrice owing to various factors, including an attempted coup.
