Joy Bishara, a former student of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, who was among the 276 female students captured by Boko Haram in 2014, recently got engaged to her white lover in the United States.

Photos of Bishara’s lover going on his knee to propose to her at a beach have gone viral, eliciting congratulatory messages from well-wishers.

Recall that a total of 276 female students aged from 16 to 18 were kidnapped by the terrorist group.

About 57 of the schoolgirls escaped by jumping from the trucks on which they were being transported.

Some others were rescued by the Nigerian Armed Forces but over 100 were still missing.

However, Bishara and her cousin, Lydia Pogu, who were among those who escaped the attack that caught global attention, relocated to United States.

She graduated from Southeastern University, where she obtained a degree in social work in 2021.
