Iyiola Oladunjoye, a graduate from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Nigeria, has emerged as an inspiration to many as he defied personal tragedy to graduate with a remarkable first-class degree in microbiology.
Despite facing the heartbreaking loss of his father just days before his second-semester final examinations, Oladunjoye displayed unwavering determination and achieved an impressive academic milestone.
In a heartfelt account of his journey, Iyiola Oladunjoye shared that he experienced profound grief and emotional instability following the sudden loss of his father.
The weight of his grief threatened to shatter his academic dreams, as he struggled to concentrate on his studies during the crucial period leading up to his final exams.
Oladunjoye’s journey to academic excellence was marked by a remarkable turnaround.
His Grade Point Average (GPA) initially stood at 3.67, but he managed to push himself to achieve a remarkable 4.99 CGPA by the end of his studies. .
In his words;
“From 3.67 to 4.99 CGPA. Wasn’t in my right frame of mind that second semester. Lost my father few days to exam. I just thought to myself; if I eventually dropout due to financial reasons, I must do so in honor (to my father). Few years later, I graduated with a First Class Honors.”
