A lady, Ghanaian international student who traveled to Canada in pursuit of her education has found herself in a distressing situation as her supposed friend, who had promised to host her upon arrival, failed to pick her up from the airport.

The stranded student, whose identity remains undisclosed, reached out for help to Ghanaian influencer James Annor Tetteh, popularly known as Nana Tea.

Via WhatsApp, the lady detailed her plight.

In her words;

“I came to Canada as an international student. A friend promised me a stay at her end upon arrival so that I can take time to look for accommodation. I got to the airport, and she refused to pick up my calls. I am in a hotel, but the cost is too much. Please can you post it on your page if I can get help with accommodation?”

Nana Tea, who has become a prominent voice among the Ghanaian diaspora in Canada, shared the distressing message on his platform and expressed his concern.

He revealed that this case was not isolated.

This is the fifth time I have gotten this type of case in less than three months. Please, those friends promising their friends a short stay, and when they get there, they won’t answer their phones or switch off their phones, should kindly stop it. You put these people through a lot. I have exceeded my limit with the Canada contacts I have, I’m always pleading on behalf of people.. It’s not funny anymore. Just be honest with them so they come prepared. Nana Tea said”
