Nigerian Businessman commits suicide following struggle to payback loan

When a man reaches the point of contemplating suicide, it's a sign he's reached rock bottom. The tragic tale of Terver Orfega, weighed down by the crushing burden of debt which closed in on him, combined with his futile efforts to settle the loan, cast him into the depths of depression, ultimately leading him to the brink of ending his own life.


A tragic tale unfolds as a 29-year-old man from Benue State, Terver Orfega, succumbed to the depths of despair, leading to a heart-wrenching end due to his inability to settle a business loan.

Orfega, who had been the helm of Second Pot Restaurant, nestled along Lobito Crescent in Wuse 2, Abuja, until his untimely demise, had reportedly sought financial aid in the form of a loan to fuel his entrepreneurial dreams.

However, as the burdens of debt closed in on him, unsuccessful attempts to repay the loan plunged him into a dark abyss of depression. His desperate journey culminated on October 31, 2023, when he was discovered lifeless in a private hotel room in Garki, having consumed a deadly concoction.

His friend, Mercy Akwari, revealed that Orfega had hinted at his battle with depression, but the seriousness of his struggles eluded her.

Orfega found his final resting place in his hometown in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue on November 4, 2023, marking the end of a life filled with unfulfilled dreams and potential.

Meanwhile, grief-stricken friends and acquaintances have taken to social media to mourn the loss of a promising soul.

In other news, No fewer than 70 students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife in Osun state, have been arrested in a massive raid on hostels by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
