- In his account, he intended to transfer money to a friend but inadvertently directed it to an account sharing a strikingly similar name
- He earnestly appealed to fellow Nigerians, urging them to join him in requesting the Afrobeats maestro to kindly reimburse his diligently earned funds.
In a widely circulated social media post by a Nigerian named Adeleke583, he asserted that he unintentionally transferred ₦500,000 to the renowned Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, better known as Davido.
The social media user claimed that he intended to send the money to a friend who coincidentally shares the same name as the music star.
He disclosed that the funds were mistakenly sent to a Wema Bank account with the same name as the artist, pleaded with the general public to lend a helping hand in recovering his funds.
Tagging the singer and sharing a screenshot of his Zenith Bank account transaction to Davido, he wrote;
“Good day, sir, Mr. David Adeleke @davido, I want to bring to your attention an issue. Please, I would like you to consider helping me.”
“I mistakenly sent #500,000 naira to your Wema Bank account with this account number: 0123044967. This was supposed to be sent to a friend of mine who also goes by the name David Adeleke.”
