Police to deal with LGBTQ members who openly revealed their sexuality in trending ‘Of Course’ challenge

The police is set to go after some LGBTQ members who proudly flaunted their sexuality in line with a trending TikTok challenge


Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigerian Police Force Public Relations Officer, has disclosed the intention of the agency to go after some LGBTQ members who unashamedly revealed their sexuality in a trending TikTok challenge.

A few hours ago, a video comprising of some members of the LGBTQ community participating in the viral ‘Of Course’ challenge hit the internet.

In the video, they opened up about their sexuality and shared some questions thrown to them daily by society.

The clip trended online with netizens sharing diverse opinions.

An X user identified as @iamking_yusuf subsequently decided to draw the attention of the police to it by tagging the Nigerian Police and the FPRO’s handle, asking if LGBTQ activities are now legal in Nigeria.

He wrote:

“@Princemoye1 @PoliceNG una no update us say LGBTQ is now legal in Naija o. Buh no shaking, all of us go well last last.”

Responding, Adejobi stated that their activities are criminal and punishable under the law. He added that necessary actions to tackle the menace are currently in progress.

He wrote:

“They are criminal and punishable under the law. We are on this clip to take necessary action according to the provisions of the law in Nigeria. These are unnatural offences and are totally condemned. Thanks.”
