36-year-old Nigerian lady dies during BBL surgery in Lagos

The heart-wrenching demise of Abiola, who succumbed to complications from a buttocks enlargement procedure, unfolds as a chilling narrative of human aspiration gone tragically awry. Her death serves as a painful reminder of the perilous line between enhancement and harm, and the enduring cost of societal pressures on those seeking to alter their bodies.

A 36-year-old woman, known only as Abiola, has met a tragic and untimely end while undergoing a controversial buttocks enlargement procedure at a clinic in the upscale Lekki-Phase 1 area of Lagos State.

The ill-fated incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, reportedly unfolded around 3 pm on a seemingly ordinary Monday afternoon.

According to reports, Abiola, leaving behind the comforts of her home in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, Ibeju Lekki, set out with a clear intent to enhance her appearance, instructed her driver to take her to the clinic where her fate would ultimately be sealed.

Upon arriving at the clinic, the owner wasted no time, swiftly directing a nurse to administer an injection that was meant to kickstart the procedure. However, what was supposed to be a routine cosmetic enhancement soon spiraled into a nightmare. Not long after the injection was administered, Abiola’s condition took a dramatic turn for the worse.

She reportedly lost consciousness almost immediately, her breath becoming labored and erratic—a terrifying sight that sent the clinic staff into a frenzied panic.

To address the situation and prevent further complications, the deceased was rushed to a hospital in Lekki Phase 1, where she was confirmed dead.

The tragic death has sparked outrage and calls for justice, and the Lagos State Police Command has wasted no time in responding. Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed to PUNCH on Wednesday that a suspect linked to this harrowing event was apprehended on Tuesday.

Hundeyin said, “The private driver of the deceased reported the incident to the Maroko division. Our officers visited the scene and the body was sent to a public morgue for an autopsy. The nurse who injected the deceased has been arrested and an investigation is ongoing.”
