Auwal Ahmad Dankode, a cleaner at the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO), has been rewarded for his honesty after returning $10,000 (approximately N16 million) left behind by a passenger on a flight.

Dankode discovered the large sum of cash during his routine cleaning duties on an Egypt Air MS878 aircraft at Kano’s Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

Without hesitation, he reported the money to the station manager, ensuring it was promptly returned to its rightful owner.

In recognition of his integrity, NAHCO awarded Dankode with a promotion, a letter of commendation, and a monetary gift.

The company honored him at their headquarters in Lagos, located at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).

NAHCO’s management, led by Group Managing Director/CEO Mr. Indranil Gupta, publicly praised Dankode on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The company’s statement read:

“Ahmed Auwal Dankode, a NAHCO employee who returned the sum of $10,000, has been commended by the company’s management. The GMD/CEO, Mr. Indranil Gupta, praised Auwal’s honesty and integrity, noting that his actions serve as a shining example for others. As a reward for his honesty, Auwal received a letter of commendation, a promotion, and cash gifts from NAHCO.”
