  • A gripping video has gone viral, showing the heart-wrenching frustration of passengers whose Lagos-London flights were shockingly diverted to Manchester.
  • The clip, which has drawn the attention of Isaac Fayose and other influential voices, paints a bleak picture of stranded travelers, visibly shattered, scattered across unfamiliar locations.
  • Despite the airline addressing the reasons behind the diversion, the overwhelming sense of disappointment and confusion is palpable.

Nigeria’s airline, Air Peace, is facing a torrent of backlash after diverting a Lagos-London flight to Manchester, igniting a wave of outrage among furious passengers.

The unexpected rerouting left travelers stranded and frustrated, with many taking to social media to voice their plight.

Among the most prominent figures to highlight the incident was Isaac Fayose, the brother of former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, who shared a video clip online, further amplifying the growing discontent.

In the now-viral footage, passengers are seen standing beside a halted Air Peace plane, visibly distressed and stranded on the tarmac in Manchester, far from their intended destination of London.

The weary travelers, many of whom had already endured hours of delays, were left fuming as they processed the chaos of being rerouted without prior notice.

One particularly disgruntled passenger, speaking on behalf of the others, detailed the sequence of unfortunate events that led to their ordeal.

According to the passenger, Air Peace had missed its takeoff slot in Lagos, leading to a two-hour delay. This delay, compounded by mismanagement, ultimately forced the plane to divert to Manchester, where the passengers were left stranded, waiting for answers.

The drama unfolded just hours after Air Peace released a public statement on its X handle, attempting to explain the events. In the statement, the airline claimed that Flight P47578, which departed Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 11:59 pm on October 17, encountered severe weather issues upon approaching London-Gatwick.

The airline went on to say that the flight’s departure had already been pushed back to 2:00 am due to the forecasted weather conditions, and they had no choice but to divert to Manchester to ensure passenger safety.
