- Nigerian singer Asake has reportedly parted ways with YBNL.
- According to gossip blog, Cutie_Julls Asake’s contract expired and he refused to renew, despite Olamide’s efforts to retain him.
- Asake is said to have allegedly walked away from negotiations two weeks ago.
Nigerian music sensation Asake has reportedly left YBNL, the record label founded by industry giant, Olamide.
In a recent Instagram post, IG gossip blog, Cutie_julls claimed that the decision stems from the expiration of Asake’s contract with YBNL and his refusal to renew the agreement.
It further claimed that insiders revealed Olamide made concerted efforts to retain Asake under the YBNL umbrella, offering a new contract to extend their collaboration. However, the ‘Sungba’ crooner opted not to sign, signalling his desire to forge his path as an independent artist.
The breaking point reportedly occurred two weeks ago when Asake walked away from negotiations entirely, solidifying his decision to exit the label.
The report read:
“Asake leaves YBNL and dumps OLAMIDE.
Insiders says Asake’s contract with Olamide’s YBNL expired and when OLAMIDE presented Asake with a new contract, Asake refused to sign.
OLAMIDE apparently tried everything in his books to renew his record label with Asake but Asake refused.
The final straw happened two [2] weeks ago when Asake walked out completely out of the deal opting to be his own boss. Hopefully they will be able to resolve and get Asake to stay
As it is now, OLAMIDE is looking for new artists.
Hmmm 👩🦯.”
