- A storm of controversy recently erupted when reports surfaced alleging that a convicted individual, who had been freed and pardoned by Governor Adeleke, was rearrested for committing another crime.
- The name that quickly emerged in these scandalous claims was none other than Segun Olowookere.
- Olowookere, who had also been granted a pardon by the Osun State Governor, wasted no time in confronting the allegations.
Segun Olowookere, a 31-year-old man whose life took a dramatic turn after spending 10 years on death row at the infamous Kirikiri prison for armed robbery, has fiercely denied rumors claiming that he has been rearrested for committing another crime.
The mix-up surfaced just after his recent release, sending shockwaves through social media.
But in a passionate and revealing video shared on January 23, Olowookere made it clear that he had no part in any new criminal activity.
In the video, which quickly went viral, Olowookere addressed the swirling rumors head-on, expressing both frustration and disappointment at the false information being spread about him.
He clarified that the real suspect linked to the burglary and theft crime, was not him, but another individual named Sunday Omisakin.
Omisakin, who was one of the 53 inmates recently pardoned by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, had reportedly been returned to prison for the alleged offense, not Olowookere.
Segun Olowookere urged Nigerians to ignore the false reports, assuring them that he is doing well and focused on rebuilding his life.
His words;
“Please, disregard the false news and help me spread the correct information. I am using the opportunity to beg Nigerian journalists and lawyers to come to my aid, to come to my rescue.
“Because initially, the case that I was sentenced to death by hanging for, I never committed it.
“I wonder why this is coming from different kinds of bloggers, saying that I have been arrested, I have been taken back to prison custody, using this to gain followers.
“Please, if they have been paid, they should stop. Stop spoiling my name, my career, the name of the governor that helped me, and stop spreading my pictures up and down.”
