Chief of Defence staff finally responds to dismissed female soldier’s affair allegation, mental health saga

As the story continues to develop, the implications for the military's culture and the treatment of its personnel are monumental. • General Gwabin Musa OFR has come forward with a detailed and forceful response to the explosive accusations made by Ruth Ogunleye, whose claims have ignited a storm of controversy within the military.
  • Ogunleye’s shocking allegations pointed directly at the Chief of Defense Staff, accused him and several colleagues of engaging in illicit affairs with female soldiers under their command.
  • In a bold move to defend his reputation and that of his colleagues, General Musa did not hold back. He tackled Ogunleye’s accusations head-on, dismantling her narrative with precision.

In a dramatic and revealing interview, Chief of Defence Staff General Gwabin Musa OFR addressed the explosive accusations hurled at him by Private Ruth Ogunleye, a dismissed female soldier whose claims have rocked the military establishment to its core.

Ogunleye, seething with indignation, publicly alleged that General Musa engaged in illicit affairs with female colleagues and fostered a culture of harassment and abuse among his ranks.

Her explosive allegations have not only put the spotlight on Musa but have also raised critical questions about the military’s treatment of its personnel.

Ogunleye, whose claims have gone viral, rose to prominence after she began sharing shocking videos and posts on social media detailing her harrowing experiences within the military. Her narrative paints a bleak picture of systemic abuse, specifically targeting Colonel Abdulkareem, whom she accused of relentless sexual harassment.

She described a horrifying ordeal, asserted that she was brutally raped and that Abdulkareem, in cahoots with other high-ranking officers, orchestrated her dismissal by labeling her as mentally unfit—a claim she vehemently refutes.

However, during a candid conversation with media personality Rufai Oseni on Arise TV, General Musa confronted these serious accusations with a mix of authority and emotional weight.

He insisted that Ogunleye is battling significant mental health issues, emphasizing that her dismissal was not a hasty decision but the result of an exhaustive investigation into her conduct and mental state.

Musa debunked the allegations against him outright, averrred that they stem from Ogunleye’s psychological struggles rather than any misconduct on the part of the military leadership.

He maintained that despite the military’s attempts to engage with her concerns, it became increasingly apparent that her mental state was not conducive to serving effectively.

Rufai Oseni, recognizing the gravity of Ogunleye’s situation, pressed General Musa to reconsider her allegations, urging him to initiate another investigation to ensure that justice was served and that Ogunleye wasn’t being unjustly labeled as unstable.

General Musa listened intently, promised to consider the suggestion while maintaining his stance on the necessity of accountability within the military.
