  • A viral clip capturing two white garment pastors extending their tongues and intertwining them in what appeared to be an anointing ritual sent shockwaves across social media.
  • The outrage was immediate, with critics firing at the Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
  • As backlash intensified, the church’s governing body wasted no time in issuing a swift response, attempting to douse the flames of controversy.

The Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has issued a blistering condemnation of a viral video that ignited outrage online.

The clip, which captured an alleged ‘anointing’ ritual, featured a supposed bishop on his knees, engaging in an eyebrow-raising tongue-sharing act with a self-proclaimed church elder, surrounded by other members of the congregation.

Denouncing the act as horrific and despicable before God and man, the church launched an internal probe, identifying the central figure as Alfred Oluwasegun Okikiola Ogunnusi, who refers to himself as His Eminence Baba Aladura LAHOJAH.

The ceremony reportedly occurred in Ogijo, Ogun State, involving another man, Benjamin (aka Ajigbo), who runs a makeshift ‘church’ in Adamo, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Rejecting any ties to the individuals, the church accused them of exploiting the revered name of St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase for personal gain, stressed that merely invoking his legacy does not grant legitimacy.

Declaring its absolute rejection of the ritual, the church stated:

“We abhor idolatrous practices and denounce their satanic and unnatural acts. Our anointing is done with OLIVE OIL ONLY, and baptism is through IMMERSION IN WATER.”

Urging the public to dismiss the misleading display, the church called for collective condemnation of what it described as a desecration of sacred Christian rites.

The C&S body dismissed Ogunnusi’s attempt to justify the act with Genesis 48:10, calling his interpretation deeply flawed and a blatant misrepresentation of the Holy Scriptures.

It stressed that such distortion of biblical teachings was unacceptable and had no place in true Christian doctrine.
