As the battle against COVID-19 continues, Nigeria has recorded 521 new cases of the deadly virus in 19 states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.
This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) via its daily update on Sunday February 21.
According to the centre, the states breakdown of the new cases of COVID-19 is as follow; Lagos-166, Ogun-52, Rivers-47, Adamawa-37, Ebonyi-37, Akwa Ibom-25, Osun-21, Bayelsa-18, Kaduna-17, Oyo-16, FCT-15, Ekiti-14, Kano-12, Edo-12, Borno-9, Yobe-8, Ondo-6, Nasarawa-4, Bauchi-2, Kwara-3.
There are now 152,074 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 1,839 deaths have been recorded. 128,619 patients who recovered from the disease have also been discharged.
In other news, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said in Lagos on Saturday that Nigeria might get COVID-19 vaccines in the next 10 days.
“We are told that by the end of this month, which is about 10 days from now, we shall get the vaccines,’’ the minister said.
“We do not produce the vaccines. They are manufactured abroad in about four or five countries,’’ he told newsmen at the end of an inspection tour of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi-Araba,
Ehanire explained that the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Russia and China that had succeeded in producing the vaccines were now giving licences to other countries to reproduce them.
