Armed men suspected to be bandits attack village in Niger

Residents of Manta village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State on Tuesday night, February 23 were reportedly attacked by armed men suspected to be bandits.

According to SaharaReporters, the bandits heavily armed with assorted sophisticated weapons came into the village on motorcycles, shooting sporadically.

“Manta village of Manta district in Shiroro Local Government Area was under siege by the armed bandit last night. They shot into the air frequently to instill fear in the victims” a resident said.

The source added that there are many casualties but there is no certainty as to the number of those affected at the moment.

This attack comes barely a week after bandits dressed in military uniforms attacked the Government Science Secondary School Kagara and abducted 27 students. The bandits are yet to release the abducted students.
